Codex entry[]
William I of Meissen was Margrave of Meissen from 1382. He often attended the Prague Court of Charles IV and later his nephew married Charles’ daughter.
He was called the One-Eyed, because, according to legend, St. Benno of Meissen appeared to him in a dream and took his eye in punishment for his conflicts with the Church.
